World Outreach
The World Outreach Committee strives to improve our focus and vision as a congregation for the spread of the gospel around the world.
Our International Festival is usually held in the Fall and features dinners, International speakers and other events. Our speakers are involved with Women’s Coffee Break, Refuel Wednesday, Men’s Saturday Breakfast and Sunday School classes. Another highlight for us has been serving a Friday night dinner for International Students in Ann Arbor. Members of the congregation graciously provided food, helped serve and interacted with the students who gathered to eat and listen to an excellent presentation by Paul Champoux.
Fellowship EPC is blessed to share in the support of 13 Mission and International Workers. Currently four of those we support serve in the United States. They are Paul and Ginny Champoux, with International Students, Inc. in Ann Arbor, MI: Randy and Barb Brown with Military Ave EPC in Southwest Detroit; MI; Mike and Norma Merritt with the Navigators in Cedar Rapids, IA: and T & K who returned from Central Asia during 2008. The nine International Workers we support outside the United States are stationed in Russia, Malaysia, Lebanon, the Philippines, Peru and in Central Asia. An important aspect of our function as a committee is to facilitate prayer support for these workers.
Fellowship EPC has participated in several short term mission trips, both in the US and overseas. We often work together with other groups in the church or from other congregations on these trips. The purpose of short term missions is to develop in our members a heart for people. Short term projects are useful at the beginning of ones walk with Christ but may also be used of God to help maturing believers to clarify a call of God to service around the world. Training, service and debriefing are the three phases of short term mission involvements. This insures that we maximize this development opportunity among all who participate.
Our Committee normally meets on the third Tuesday of each month. Please contact Frank Severn or the church office if you have any questions or would like to participate in any way.
